Stay Golden is more than an average hotel. We strive for creating an atmosphere where you feel at home far away from home. And next to many other aspects, your room plays a major role in it. That’s why we consider what’s most important for our guests – based on our experience of running Stay Golden in Arugam Bay since 2013. Our cabanas at Stay Golden are unique. They were newly built in 2019, and we continuously improve them.
Choose from different cabana types
At Stay Golden, you can choose from five cabanas and two double rooms. Every accommodation is unique and individually designed, along with natural materials used where possible. For instance, some cabanas are mainly made from wood, while others are half-wood half-stone. One of our double rooms is made of wood, the other room comes with stone.
Additionally, we offer cabanas and rooms for 2 persons, 3 persons, and 4 persons. Choose your accommodation at Stay Golden depending on your preference for size, price and occupancy.
All cabanas and rooms of Stay Golden are directly located at the coastline of Arugam Bay. You can find us at a more quiet area of the beach, Southern of Main Point. It’s a perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The beach cabanas at Stay Golden
Our accommodations rely on air conditioning and ceiling-mounted fans to help provide a good night’s sleep. Two cabanas have a king-size bed, each with a tailor-made high-quality mosquito net (Double Cabanas). They come with garden view from their private terraces. One cabana has two king-size beds on two floors (Premium Cabana). Two of the cabanas have a king-size bed as well as two single beds (bunk bed) with mosquito net (Family Cabanas). The premium cabana and the family cabanas additionally offer an upper balcony with sea view. All contain an en suite bathroom along with a hot water shower. The hot water is eco-friendly, generated with solar panels. There is also a small fridge for you to use. Every cabana has a private terrace that invites you to relax in reclining chairs and a hammock.
The double rooms at Stay Golden
The double rooms are located in one house. Identical with the cabanas, they come with ceiling-mounted fans and silent air conditioning. Additionally, both rooms have a king-size bed, each with a tailor-made high-quality mosquito net. The private bathroom is accessible from the bedroom. These rooms are perfect for solo travellers and couples. On the top floor is the double room with sea view. It comes with a stunning view even from bed, and a little balcony with chairs. Our other double room is located on the ground floor. This one has hot water and a terrace with chairs and a hammock.

The property
Our Stay Golden hotel garden with pool provides a good balance of shade and sunlight. When you step out of your cabana, you will immediately feel the sand between your toes. A small, natural dune connects our garden to the beach. Palm trees, green grass, and plants sit either side of the path through the garden and around the pool.
Take some steps to our little surfboard hut between the double cabanas to choose your surfboard for the day. In addition, our garden also offers a place to relax at sunbeds in the shade next to the pool.
Or, take a seat at one of our different sitting accommodations like the couch, or the community table at the restaurant to have a break. All are just a few steps away from your door.
The location
The special thing about the location of Stay Golden is its surrounding. On the one hand, Arugam Bay town is not far. On the other hand, at Stay Golden, you are surrounded by the typical nature landscape of Sri Lanka’s east coast. This combination is perfect for everyone who seeks an oasis of nature to unwind, and, at the same time, to be in town quickly.
That’s why we offer bicycles free of charge for our guests. By that, you can be in town flexibly with all its restaurants, hotels and shops in minutes only. Walking by the beach, heading to the surfing spot Main Point, it’s a ten minutes walk. From there, you reach the centre of the main bay easily.
